Thursday, and it's up and go as we head away to Skipton castle and upwards to Newcastle. heading out of the B and B we take a left and you guessed it 2o minutes later we are back to where we started. off we go again and finally we are on our way. As we headed into Skipton we were pleasantly surprised at the market town. 1st stop is the pay and display. These little machines are absolutely everywhere to take your unwanted coins. as we head up the hill the 900 year old Castle is very imposing and still in use today as a home for Lord Clifford. It took a good hour  1/2 to investigate the rooms and was well worth the stop. unfortunately we don't have quite the time to spend to check out the town centre as we need to press on northbound. We did however stop for lunch in a tea room set up in the rectory of the church. All we needed to finish the picture in the rooms was Captain Mannering and and the home guard coming in. An absolute delight.
Onwards and Upwards we head, back along the Yorkshire Dales turning north before Harrogate and picking up the M1 north. It was good to hit a clear road and made good time to our next stop, the Angel of the North. 9 years ago we saw it but didn't have the time to stop. this time Jacqui got to to touch the iconic statue and marvel at its size. onwards we go to team valley and through to Sunniside checking out the old places we lived and then onto Audrey and Eric's in Whickham.
